[ARCHIVED] City Centre Aquatic Complex to Undergo Annual Maintenance

Exterior of CCAC

COQUITLAM, B.C., Aug. 24, 2022 – Coquitlam’s City Centre Aquatic Complex (CCAC) will undergo its annual maintenance closure from Tuesday, Sept. 6 to Sunday, Oct. 9, reopening on Monday, Oct. 10. Please note, Oct. 10 is a holiday and will have different hours (8 – 10 a.m. for Women’s-only time; 10:30 a.m. – 10:30 p.m.). Regular hours will resume Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The fitness centre at CCAC will be closed Tuesday, Sept. 6 to Monday, Sept. 12, reopening on Tuesday, Sept. 13. From Sept. 13 to Oct. 9, the gym hours will be Monday to Friday, 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Saturday, 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and closed on Sundays. The front desk will close 30-minutes before the gym closes.

Maintenance Vital for Daily Public Use

The swimming pool at CCAC, located at 1210 Pinetree Way, is open to the public every day and the systems run continuously. The closure is necessary for maintenance and cleaning that cannot be completed while the facility is open, and ensures a safe environment for staff and the public, reduces the likelihood of equipment failures, and extends the life of City assets.

Annual maintenance tasks include:

  • Draining the pools and deep-cleaning the tanks;
  • Deep cleaning the fitness centres and equipment, lockers, change rooms, showers, lifejackets and pool toys;
  • Regrouting tiles and touching up paint; and
  • Inspecting and servicing mechanical systems and other equipment.

Alternative Options Available

Patrons can swim in Coquitlam at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex (PSLC) at 633 Poirier St. Outdoor swimming options are also available at Eagle Ridge Outdoor Pool at 2689 Guildford Way until Oct. 9. Visit www.coquitlam.ca/outdoorpools for all the details.

The fitness centre at PSLC will be open for drop-in fitness classes and weight room access.
