Family Friendly Activities

The 8,000-square-metre (86,000-square-foot) festival lawn near the Town Centre Park Community Plaza will feature:

• Adventure Games – Stop by and try exciting active games for a variety of ages, skills and abilities, including mini golf, hockey, football and more. Test out some two-wheeled vehicles at the Lime scooter and e-bike demo area. You’ll also find the Bike Valet here to keep your bike secure while you’re at the event.
• Eat Street – Find tasty multicultural food options, including vegan, vegetarian, Halal, kosher and gluten free options. 
• Eco Zone – Connect with the City’s environment and Park Spark team, as well as local groups, through interactive, hands-on activities that highlight local ecosystems – sponsored by BC Hydro. 
• Coquitlam Lane – Take some fun pictures in the giggle booth and learn about the Coquitlam Tourism highlights, first response services and what the City is doing in Accessibility and Inclusion. 
• The Meadow – Discover various cultural groups, art organizations, corporate partners from the community. The Meadow Stage will feature interactive performances throughout the day.

Eat Street 

Stop and savour the multicultural food options at Eat Street, from 12 - 10 p.m. All food trucks offer a variety of vegan (VE), vegetarian (V), gluten free (GF), nut-free (NF), and dairy-free (D) options. 

Bao Buns YVR
Offering: Dessert buns served with ice cream featuring flavours like strawyberry nutella, mango paradise, ube honeycomb, and pistachio.

Reminder: Outside alcohol is not permitted in a City park when a sanctioned event is taking place in that park and holds a special event liquor licence (e.g., Canada Day)

Getting to Canada Day

Coquitlam’s Town Centre Park is located at 1299 Pinetree Way with access points on Pinetree Way, Pipeline Road and David Avenue. Visitors are encouraged to walk, ride, or take transit to Canada Day, as parking is limited. 

• Transit – The Canada Day event is located a short ten-minute walk from the Lafarge Lake-Douglas Skytrain station, with a clearly marked paved path leading the way to the event grounds. 
• Bike – Attendees who choose to ride their bike or scooter to the event can access the free on-site bike valet service stationed along Trevor Wingrove Way. Open from 12 - 10:30 p.m. 
• Pick-up/drop-off – There will be designated pick-up and drop-off areas in parking lot A (on the west side of the park off of Trevor Wingrove Way adjacent to Pinetree Way).
• Road Closure  – Pinetree Way between Guildford Avenue and Pinewood Avenue will be closed to traffic in the evening from 9:30 – 11 p.m. for the fireworks display.
• Vehicle – For those who arrive by vehicle, free parking will be available in the lots off of Trevor Wingrove Way and at the Douglas College surface lots.

Event Accessibility 

Coquitlam strives to create experiences that are inclusive for all members of the community. On Canada Day this includes providing:

• Designated accessible pick up/drop-off locations
• Accessible parking and entrances including expectant mother parking
  • Marked wheelchair accessible parking spots in Lot A and C are wheelchair ramp-friendly
• Physically accessible viewing areas for fireworks and entertainment stages including built Access Trax pathways
• Wheelchair accessible seating in Eat Street and Brew Corner
• Water fill station with lower access point options
• Service animals are welcome on site. Water bowls are available for dogs
• Increased lighting before and after fireworks
• Washrooms include wheelchair accessible and gender neutral options
• Kinsight provides resources and supports for children and families with developmental disabilities. You can find their Sensory Break Zone in the Meadow
• Community Living Society provides resources and supports for adults with acquired brain injury. Pottery Works Program will be on site to sell handmade art work and share lived experiences from the artist directly
• Pilot Program - new! Wheelchair-accessible Brew Corner service area
