Cemetery Services Plan

Overview

Robinson Memorial Park Cemetery is a 3.4 hectare (8.5 acre) site in Southwest Coquitlam owned and operated by the City. The need to develop a Cemetery Services Plan was identified in the Parks, Recreation & Culture (PRC) Master Plan. In 2019, Coquitlam Council approved the 2019-2039 Cemetery Services Plan, a comprehensive 20 year plan for cemeteries that builds on existing cemetery assets to meet the internment needs of residents of Coquitlam.

As part of the Cemetery Services Plan, future upgrades are planned for Robinson Memorial Park Cemetery to be divided into various phases. Phase 1A began in 2020, Phase 1B in 2021, Phase 2 in 2023 and Phase 3 in 2030.

The Phase 1A upgrades in the south end of the cemetery will began in fall 2020 and included decommissioning an internal road and implementing traditional burial plots, plots for cremated remains, and a new scattering garden. Phase 1A is now complete.

The Phase 1B upgrades at the north end of the cemetery will began in early 2021 and included converting the forested area to green burial plots, traditional full burial plots, family cremation estates, and an extended pedestrian trail network. The north end of the site also extended the existing cemetery road to create a secondary exit to Robinson Street. Phase 1B is now complete.
