Large Item Pick-Up

Do you have furniture or other large household items you no longer want that can’t be donated (PDF)?

Residents who receive Garbage and Green Cart collection from the City, and pay a Garbage Fee on the Annual Utility Bill, can have up to four large household items collected each year. Most stratified properties do not pay this fee because they receive private waste collection and therefore are not able to use this program.

Per calendar year, each household is allotted:

  • Four large item pick-ups at the same time, once per year, or;
  • One, two or three pick-ups at different times of the year up to a maximum of four items per year.

How to Schedule Large Item Pick-Up

Once your request has been received and reviewed, Waste Connections will contact you to confirm your collection and provide a date(s) for pickup. Make note of this date – if you miss your scheduled collection it will  still count towards your item count for the year.

  • On the day of your scheduled collection, ensure items are out by 7:30 a.m. Items cannot be placed out any earlier than the night before as per the Boulevard Maintenance Bylaw No. 4853, 2018.
  • There is a 70 kg (150 lbs) maximum weight restriction per item. Items that can’t safely be lifted will not be collected.
  • Important note: Please place large items at the curbside for collection ensuring they do not block the sidewalk or traffic - see photo examples below. Please note that crews will not access private property to collect an item.
