Community Satisfaction Survey

2025 Survey Underway

The City of Coquitlam has once again retained Ipsos, a trusted research firm, to conduct its 2025 Community Satisfaction Survey. This important survey invites randomly selected residents to share their views on quality of life, City services, value for tax dollars, and emerging community issues. The results help inform City decisions, from budgeting and planning to improving how services are delivered.

2023 Survey Results

The last Community Satisfaction Survey (PDF), conducted by Ipsos in 2023, asked residents about quality of life, City services, important issues, financial planning and how they prefer to engage with the City. The statistically valid results provide insight into what the City is doing well, areas where improvements may be needed, and changing community priorities.

Highlights from 2023 include:

  • 94% rated Coquitlam's quality of life positively
  • 93% were satisfied with City services
  • 80% felt they receive good value for tax dollars

The survey also reflected growing concern about affordability, infrastructure and other pressures affecting communities across Canada. These insights help the City respond to emerging needs while planning services and amenities.

The 2023 survey heard from 782 randomly invited Coquitlam residents, aged 18 years or older — including 250 by phone and 512 online. In response to changes in technology and household habits, Ipsos introduced a mixed-method approach using phone and mailed invitations to an online survey. This shift allowed for broader representation, capturing perspectives from newer residents and individuals who no longer use landlines.

About the Survey

Coquitlam has worked with Ipsos since 2003 to gather feedback through the Community Satisfaction Survey. In 2023, the survey moved to a two-year cycle to reduce engagement fatigue while continuing to collect meaningful public input. Participants are randomly selected and may be invited to take part by phone or through a mailed invitation to an online survey.

Findings from the 2025 survey will be shared this fall.
